The fight has been set.  The date, January 17 2015.  Mandatory contender Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KO’s) will finally take on Bermane Stiverne (24-1, 21 KO’s), for Stiverne’s WBC Heavyweight Championship.  I have personally been waiting for this fight for quite some time now, as I am a huge believer of Deontay Wilder.

Bermane Stiverne holds the only major Heavyweight championship belt, while all the others are held by Wladimir Klitschko, so it will be interesting to see if the winner of this matchup will indeed face of against Dr. Steelhammer, to crown and undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.  Stiverne is no doubt a heavy hitter with 21 KO’s on his resume.  Wilder has knocked out every opponent he has ever faced, so it will be interesting to see which man actually has more power.

The criticism on Wilder is that he hasn’t fought anyone worth mentioning.  He did fight one very decent fighter (Malik Scott), and he disposed of him via 1st round KO.  Wilder has never been past 4 rounds, so it will be interesting to see if he has the stamina to complement his amazing power.  On the other hand, I don’t quite understand why Stiverne hasn’t been criticized for the same thing.  Ok, so he fought Chris Arreola twice, but Arreola in my opinion is very overrated.  Other then that, Stiverne’s resume is not really that impressive either.  This will be the first true test for either guy, and thats what makes this fight so interesting.  Plus, theres finally something to talk about in the Heavyweight division.
