Stiverne VS Wilder, which will take place tonight on Showtime Boxing, will be the 135th WBC World Title fight.  Out of the 135, 95 of them have taken place in the United States, and 40 in Nevada.  Bermane Stiverne, a Haitian born fighter, is the 22nd boxer in history the win the WBC World Heavyweight title, after his KO win over Chris Arreola.  On the other hand, if Deontay Wilder can come up victorious tonight, he would become the first undefeated US born Heavyweight to win a World Championship since Riddick Bowe won  the WBC, WBA, and IBF Championships in 1992.

The last American fighter to hold the WBC title was Hasim Rahman, and the last American to hold any version of the title was Shannon Briggs.  So in other words, this would be a huge deal to the American Boxing fan, if Wilder can bring the title home.  Wilder would also tie Vitale Klitschko for being the tallest WBC Heavyweight champion at 6 feet and seven inches.  The tallest Heavyweight champ of all time actually was Nikolai Valuev who was seven feet tall, and also the heaviest at 323 pounds.

The first 9 WBC World Heavyweight Champs ever were all form America.  The list included Sonny Liston (1st ever 1963), Mohammed Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Leon Spinks, Ken Norton, Larry Holmes, Tim Witherspoon, and Pinklon Thomas. Some other WBC World Heavyweight champs were “Buster” Douglas, Evander Holyfeild, Oliver McCall, Riddick Bowe, and Hasim Rahman.  Mike Tyson, at the age of 20, became the youngest ever World Heavyweight Champion by knocking out Trevor Berbick on Novemer 22nd 1986, who was the only Jamaican born WBC World Heavyweight champ.
