Andy Lee won the WBO Middleweight title, the same title that Peter Quillin vacated.  He took on Matt Korobov on December 13th of last year, and after losing every round, Andy Lee did what he dies best.  A dramatic left hook sledgehammer landed out of nowhere on Korobov’s right temple, and it was all history from there.  Korobov did not last much longer into the 6th round, and Andy Lee fulfilled Emanuel Stewarts profecy, and became world champion.

Peter Quillin vacated this title for very strange reasons.  Seemingly he did it to avoid a fight with Gennady Golovkin, but who really knows.  Now on April 11th, Quillin and Lee will meet at the Barclays center in Brooklyn New York to fight for that very title.  This will be Andy Lee’s first defense of his 160 pound title, and mandatory contender Billy Joe Saunders will step aside to allow Quillin to fight this fight.  Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin brings to the table a 31-0 record with 22 KO’s, while “Irish” Andy Lee has a record of 34-2 with 24 Knockouts.
