The day that every boxing fan has been waiting to see for the last 5 years has finally arrived.  The date, May 2nd 2015.  The fight, Floyd “Money” Mayweather VS Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.  The venue, MGM Grand Las Vegas Nevada.  It’s number 1 versus number 2 and I could not be more excited about it.  Two of the greatest fighters of our generation will put it all on the line to answer the question burning in everyones mind.  Who is the best fighter in the world?

The back and forth rumors of who is really at fault for this fight not taking place in the past can finally be put to rest, because the contracts have been signed, and the fight is a go.  Mayweather (47-0-0, 26 KO’s), is the current WBC WBA and TheRing Welterweight and Junior Middleweight champion, and is ranked #1 Pound for Pound by TheRing Magazine.  Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO’s) is the current WBO welterweight champion and is ranked #3 Pound for Pound by TheRing Magazine (#2 on my list).  Mayweather will be defending his WBAsuper, WBC, and TheRing Welterweight titles.  Manny Pacquiao will put his WBO Welterweight title on the line as well.

The purse is 250 million dollars, with a 60-40 split in favor of Mayweather, with both fighters receiving PPV revenue.  It is expected to smash every box office record ever, and will be jointly televised by HBO and ShowTime.  The expected price of the PPV will be $89.95.  Pacman is signed to HBO and Mayweather to Showtime, and this will be the first joint venture of the rival networks since Mike Tyson (Showtime) fought Lenox Lewis (HBO).  Lets hope it lives up to the hype.
