Saturday March 27 at the Motorpoint Arena in Yorkshire, the undefeated Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KO’s) will take on a tough opponent in Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KO’s).  The fight will air on Sky Sports of course, but will also be aired on Showtime at 6:15 eastern time.  Kell Brook will put his IBF Welterweight title on the line against the problematic Jo Jo Dan.  Brook has everything to lose, but also a lot to gain.  If he comes out victorious, he will get the mega fight he has been waiting for.  Dan has everything to gain as well.  He won the IBF title eliminator, and put himself in line for a golden opportunity.  Without further ado, here is the breakdown:

-Record:  33 – 0 – 0 (22 KO’s)

-Weight Class:  Welterweight (147lbs)

-Height:  5′ 9″

-Reach:  69″

-Notable Fights:

  • Matthew Hatton – Win, UD 12 rounds, 3/17/12.  (Won IBF international Welterweight title)
  • Viacheslav Senchenko – Win, TKO 4th round, 10/26/13.  (IBF Welterweight Title Eliminator)
  • Shawn Porter – Win, MD 12 rounds, 8/16/14.  (Won IBF Welterweight Title)

Kell Brook is a pure boxer, but he does have decent power.  That combination is deadly because he knows what he’s doing and he’s not afraid to do it.  Brooks resume is not all that impressive, but he shocked the world when he took the title from Shawn Porter.  Porter was coming off of a UD victory against Devon Alexander, and the assassination of Paulie Malignaggi.  After the beating he put on Paulie, I don’t think anyone thought he could lose a fight in the next ten years.  Enter Kell Brook.  His boxing superiority took over the fight and neutralized Porters’ power, but it did not come easy.

-Record:  34 – 2 – 0 (18 KO’s)

-Weight Class:  Welterweight (147lbs)

-Height:  5′ 11″

-Reach:  n/a

-Notable Fights:

  • Kevin Bizier – Win, SD 12 rounds, 11/30/13.  (Won NABA & IBF inter-continental Welterweight Titles)
  • Kevin Bizier – Win, SD 12 rounds, 12/19/14.  (Won IBF Welterweight Title Eliminator)

Jo Jo Dan is a scrapy fighter that won’t go away.  He’s going to need that scrappiness to get by what is no doubt his toughest fight to date.  The IBF title eliminator against Kevin Bizier, honestly could have gone either way.  It was a split decision, and Dan lucked out with the outcome.

Prediction:  Kell Brook  —  def  —  Jo Jo Dan  —  via  —  unanimous decision 12 rounds

Gavin McDonell (12-0-2, 4 KO’s)        VS        Alexander Egorov (13-0-1, 6 KO’s)

Prediction:  Gavin McDonell  —  def  —  Alexander Egorov  —  via  —  unanimous decision 12 rounds
