LUCAS MATTHYSSE

-Record:  36 – 3, 1NC, 34 KO’s

-Weight Class:  Junior Welterweight

-Height:  5′ 7″

-Reach:  69″

-Notable Fights:

  • Lamont Peterson – Win, TKO 3rd round, 5/18/13.
  • Danny Garcia – Loss, UD 12 rounds, 9/14/13.  (For WBAsuper, WBC, TheRing Junior Welterweight titles)
  • John Molina – Win, KO 11th round, 4/26/14.  (2014 Fight Of The Year)

After whiping out Lamont Peterson in 2013, Matthysse got his championship shot against the undefeated Danny Garcia.  They traded shot back and forth in what was a pretty close fight, and then Matthysse’s eye closed up.  From there on, it was easy pickings for Garcia, as he won via unanimous decision.  Matthysse would come back in his next fight, and after hitting the canvas twice, he would knock out John Molina.  TheRing Magazine voted this the fight of the year in 2014.

RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV

-Record:  24 – 3, 17 KO’s

-Weight Class:  Junior Welterweight

-Height:  5′ 6″

-Reach:  66″

-Notable Fights:

  • Timothy Bradley – Loss, UD 12 rounds, 3/16/13.  (2013 Fight Of The Year, for WBO Welterweight title)
  • Mike Alvarado – Win, TKO 10th round, 10/19/13.  (Won WBO Junior Welterweight title)
  • Chris Algieri – Loss, SD 12 rounds, 6/14/14.  (Lost WBO Junior Welterweight title)

Known around the world as “The Siberian Rocky”, Provodnikov has been in some wars, and does not back down from anyone. His loss to Tim Bradley in 2013 was TheRing Magazines’ fight of the year.  He is a heavy hitter, and Bradley even admitted that he was concussed from the first round and throughout the whole fight.  Provodnikov can hurt you with one punch, but his stamina seems to be an issue.  He will take a round off here and there, and thats what lost him the Bradley and Algieri fights.

Prediction:

Lucas Matthysse  —  def  —  Ruslan Provodnikov  —  via  —  TKO 10th round

CO-Feature:  Terence Crawford VS Thomas Dulorme

2014 was a huge year for Terence Crawford.  He knocked out the undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa to retain his WBO Lightweight title, then he won the vacant TheRing Magazine Lightweight title by defeating Raymundo Beltran via unanimous decision.  Crawford will now move up in weight (Junior Welterweight), to take on Thomas Dulorme for the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight title.  Crawford is a very skilled boxer that understand the game, and he brings with him an undefeated record of 25-0 with 17 KO’s.  Dulorme is also a very skilled fighter with only 1 loss in his career and 22 wins.  He has knocked out 14 opponents, so there is some power there.  With all this being said, we are in for a wild ride on HBO this saturday night.

Prediction:

Terence Crawford  —  def  —  Thomas Dulorme  —  via  —  Unanimous Decision
