The battle for Brooklyn will be under way in just a few short hours as the champion Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs (30-1, 27 KO’s) will be defending his WBA middleweight crown against Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-0-1, 23 KO’s), tonight at the Barclays Center.  The co-feature will be Jonathan Oquendo (26-4, 16 KO’s) VS Jesus Cuellar (27-1, 21 KO’s) for the WBA featherweight championship.  Also on the card will be a welterweight matchup between Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KO’s) and Erick Bone (16-2, 8 KO’s).  Here is the breakdown and predictions:

DANIEL JACOBS

-Record:  30 – 1 – 0, 27 KO’s

-Weight Class:  Middleweight (160 lbs)

-Height:  6′ 0″

-Reach:  73″

-Born:  2/3/87 (age 28)

-Notable Fights:

  • Jarrod Fletcher  —  Win, TKO 5th round (12), 8/9/14.  (Won vacant WBA middleweight title)
  • Caleb Traux  —  Win, TKO 12th round (12), 4/24/15.
  • Sergio Mora  —  Win, TKO 2nd round (12), 8/1/15.

Daniel Jacobs has overcome the toughest opponent in the world, CANCER.  His list of ‘human’ opponents is not overly impressive though.  Peter Quillin will most definitely be his career defining opponent.  Jacobs is very strong for his weight though, with 27 of his 30 victories coming by way of knockout, so his best chance of victory will be just that.  A knockout.

PETER QUILLIN

-Record:  32 – 0 – 0, 23 KO’s

-Weight Class:  Middleweight

-Height:  5′ 11″

-Reach:  73″

-Born:  6/22/83 (age 32)

-Notable Fights:

  • Winky Wright  —  Win, Unanimous Decision (10), 6/2/12.
  • Hassan N’Dam  —  Win, Unanimous Decision (12), 10/20/12.  (Won WBO middleweight title)
  • Andy Lee  —  Draw, Split Decision (12), 4/11/15.

Peter Quillin will be going in to this fight with the experience advantage, as he has fought more big names then Jacobs has.  The thought kid from Brooklyn will be trying to take the WBA championship away from Daniel Jacobs, who is another tough kid from Brooklyn.  After the disappointing draw with Andy Lee, Quillin is back in the title hunt tonight.

Predictions:

  • Chris Algieri  —  def  —  Erick Bone  —  via  —  Unanimous Decision
  • Jesus Cuellar  —  def  —  Jonathan Oquendo  —  via  —  TKO 7th round
  • Peter Quillin  —  def  —  Daniel Jacobs  —  via  —  Unanimous Decision
