On March 12th of 2016, #6 IBF #6 WBC contender David Lemieux (34-3, 31 KO’s) will be back in action.  He will be taking on James De La Rosa (23-3, 13 KO’s).  The fight will take place in Montreal Quebec Canada, at the Olympia Theatre.  There has been talks that Lemieux was going to fight Willie Monroe Jr, or Curtis Stevens, but obviously neither materialized.  David Lemieux was knocked out by Gennady “GGG” Glolovkin on October 17th of last year, on HBO PPV.  It is still unclear wether or not HBO will televise this fight against De La Rosa, but given the caliber of opponent, it is highly unlikely.  Had Lemieux chosen to fight Stevens or Monroe, the fight would certainly be on HBO, and would probably also be a bit more entertaining.

James De La Rosa did not fight at all in 2015, and was last seen in the ring when he got knocked out by Hugo Centeno Jr.  That happened on December 6th of 2014.  De La Rosa was dropped in the first round by a jab, and later knocked senseless by a left hand, that left him lying face down on the mat.  De La Rosa has no fought since.  This will be a great opportunity for Lemieux to look good in the ring, after his KO loss to Glolovkin.  It sure be a fairly easy task to dispose of De La Rosa, and it should happen early in the fight.  No question that a matchup against Curtis Stevens would have been awesome to see, but I guess we will have to wait a few more months for Lemieux to get in the ring with a big name opponent.
