WBA World Welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Turman (26-0, 22 KO’s) was supposed to defend his championship last Saturday night against “Showtime” Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KO’s).  The fight was cancelled and was to be postponed, after Thurman suffered some minor injuries in a car accident.  Thurman suffered some whiplash, and was not allowed to train for 4-6 weeks.  That obviously put a damper on the Porter fight.  Porter instead fought a non sanctioned exhibition fight to stay busy, against a sparring partner in the gym where he trains.

The Keith Thurman VS Shawn Porter fight has now been rescheduled and is set to go.  It will take place on June 25 2016 on Premier Boxing Champions, and will be broadcast on CBS.  The time and venue are still to be determined, not that it really matters, because this is a highly anticipated bout.  Shawn Porter will be Thurman’s most dangerous opponent yet, and after his upset of Adrien Broner, Porter’s confidence has to be at an all time high.  Thurman got whacked only once, but really good in his last fight, and it almost put him down.  But he eventually recovered, and ended up absolutely destroying Luis Collazo.  I still believe this is Thurman’s fight to lose, because he is the better boxer, but Shawn Porter should not be taken lightly by any means.
