IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KO’s) and WBO Welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (27-1, 10 KO’s) have agreed to terms on a welterweight unification fight, and have signed the contract.  The fight will take place either on August 27th, or most likely on September 3rd, in Kell Brook’s home town of Sheffield in the UK.  Eddie Hearn has been vocal about wanting Brook to fight in a football stadium this summer, but a venue has not yet been chosen.  Kell Brook has said that he wants unification fights against top Welterweights, but has yet to fight Keith Thurman, or Danny Garcia.  While beating Vargas would get him another belt, Vargas is not by any means a top welterweight.  Brook is too quick and strong and this will be a mismatch, and I don’t think Vargas has any chance to win.

Hopefully after collecting another belt, Brook will be matched up against the winner of the Thurman VS Porter fight, because that would be a very interesting matchup.  Danny Garcia also hold a title in the welterweight division now, so that could be another possibility.  Brook is coming off of a 2 round destruction of Kevin Bizier, in a fight where he absolutely creamed his opponent.  Jessie Vargas got a surprising KO victory against a formidable opponent in Sadam Ali, after his only loss to Timothy Bradley.  Vargas looked stronger last time out, but Brook still definitely possesses every advantage.
