Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KO’s) has a problem alright.  The former 4 division champion has been sent to jail for 30 days for contempt of court, after he failed to show up on time for his trial.  As soon as Broner didn’t show up on time, the judge immediately issued a warrant for his arrest.  Broner ended up showing up to the courtroom, but he was over 3 hours late, and the judge immediately charged him with contempt of court.  Broker’s name has been mentioned in a potential fight against Manny Pacquiao in November, so 30 days in jail will be a big hit for him, keeping him out of training.  Broker’s once promising career has been put to the test by constant legal issues, and there seems to be no light for him at all, at the end of the tunnel.

Broker’s trial was supposed to be for an incident he was involved in back on January 21 of this year, when Broner allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint in a bowling alley, when the man refused to pay a bet that he lost.  The rumor was that there was a $12,000 bet on a game of bowling, and when the man refused to pay the debt, Broner pulled a gun on him and may have even assaulted him.  So Broner’s career will be put on hold again, for at least a month, and if found guilty, a lot longer then that.  Will we ever see the brilliance and promise we once saw from a younger Adrien Broner?  I sure do hope so, because he was very fun to watch, but I and many others remain skeptical.  It seems as if Broner would rather be a gangster, then a proffesioanl athlete.
