Tomorrow night, WBO Junior Welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (28-0, 20 KO’s) and WBC Junior Welterweight champion Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KO’s) will fight to unify the titles.  It has been announced that the winner will also be awarded TheRing Junior Welterweight title.  TheRing belt is vacant and has been for a while, but under The Ring Magazine rules, if the #1 and #2 contenders fight one another and the belt is vacant, the winner shall be awarded that very belt.  So Crawford and Postol are actually fighting for 3 titles instead of 2, as they look to unify the WBO/WBC/TheRing Junior Welterweight titles.  This makes the fight even more interesting then it already is, because this day and age, it is rare for a #1 and #2 contenders to fight one another.  And the fact that there is another title involved on top of the ones that they already hold, it just ups the ante a little bit more.

The last fighter to hold the prestigious RING Junior Welterweight title was Danny Garcia, but he obviously gave that up with his move up to Welterweight.  The list of fighters that held the title goes one with great names that include the likes of Ricky Hatton, Kostya Tszyu, Carlos Hernandez, etc.  Postol and Crawford will try to add their names to that list.  Usually, the man that holds TheRing title is widely considered the Lineal Champ of his respective division, so basically if you win that title, you are the man.  Tomorrow night, Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol will try to become “the man”.
