Kell Brook, to my surprise looked great against Golovkin early on, and if the fight went to the cards after the 5th, it is quite possible that Brook could have been the winner.  Brook’s ability to slip punches is unbelievable, and he was most definitely frustrating GGG.  The frustrated champion started to head hunt with wild shots, trying to get Brook out of there, and Brook just kept countering him with nice combinations.  Brook’s boxing IQ and his ability to put punches together while under extreme pressure, is absolutely unbelievable.  He is one of the greats of the sport, and will go on to have a superb career.

in the third round, Golovkin hammered Kell Brook with a huge left hook, that put a swelling on Brooks right eye.  We didn’t think much of it at the time, because Brook kept fighting on.  In the fifth round, Golovkin finally woke up and pinned Brook against the ropes, and started banging him with huge shots.  even though Brook looked like he could go on, his trainer immediately got on the ropes, and threw in the towel.  At first glance, it really looked like a premature stoppage, but after the fight we got the full story, and his trainer was absolutely right for stopping the fight.  Brook admitted afterwards, that he was losing vision in his right eye, which is why his trainer stopped the fight.  Kell brook will have surgery today, because Gennady Golovkin actually broke his eye socket, with that one huge left hook earlier in the fight.  Golovkin improves to 36-0, and gets his 23 straight KO victory.
