After months and months of rumors surrounding the possibility of a Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KO’s) and Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KO’s) fight, the two have reportedly reached and agreement.  There was a purse bid for the fight scheduled for tomorrow (2/14/17), but the two have apparently reached an agreement on the terms.  The rumors have been floating around for a while now, even before the “GGG” fight.  Then after the Golovkin fight, Brook was going to apparently vacate the IBF Welterweight title, and only drop back down to junior middleweight (154lbs).  Then there were the rumors of Brook and Amir Khan finally fighting.  Finally after everything, it seems that Kell Brook will indeed fight Errol Spence Jr.  After fighting Golovkin at Middleweight, Brook will have to shed a lot of weight to get back down to 147 pounds, which is the welterweight limit, because right now, he looks like he’s floating somewhere between 175 and 180 pounds.

The fight will take place on May 20th 2017 at Bramal Lane in Sheffield England, Brooks hometown.  Bramal Lane seats 32000 people, so it should draw in a huge crowd, if not a sell out crowd.  Brook’s only loss of his career was when he moved up 2 weight classes to fight Gennady Golovkin at Middleweight, a fight that Spence would have lost as well if he had taken it.  At Welterweight, Brook is the current IBF champion, and is undefeated.  Both fighters have knockout power in both hands, but the power edge would have to go to Errol Spence.  If you are talking about pure boxing ability, Brook has the edge there, along with a longer resume, which means more experience.  This will be a great fight for fans and for boxing.  The best fighting the best!
